Fandom Picturepost!

A picture says more than a thousand words
Sometimes the spark between people (characters;) is so obvious, it's hard to believe not everyone noticed it. Subtext is ofcourse often subtle and hidden under the surface of the real story (canon). But enthusiasm can make a lot of things look like something they're not *g*. I collected pictures of my fandoms that show moments between characters that feed the fangirl fantasy. Just look at them and tell me you still don't get it. It's chemistry, it's comfort, it's all of the above.

Pictures are in chronological order of me entering into fandom
No manipulations have been made. Use your imagination. Enjoy.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Angel/Spike (and Buffy)

Of course Angel/Buffy is the ultimate canon relationship, but when Spike was reunited with his Grandsire, you could tell they had quite a history together. I can't help but feel that Spike's initial interest in Buffy was really because she was his competition... Of course later he tried to make Angel jealous. But seriously: Angel/Spike intimacy has been more than subtly suggested in canon. True fact people.

CSI: Nick/Greg

These guys have been oozing chemistry from the first scene they are in together (in the pilot!). From that awkward conversation about anal swabs on, there has been more teasing, looking longingly and "casual" touching than I can handle without squeeing. Flirting with a capital F. They hit a bit of a rough spot in Season 5, but ten (10!) years from the start they are still together my OTP.

Harry Potter: Remus/Sirius

If you have read the Harry Potter books, you will know there is a lot more to Remus Lupin and Sirius Black than is shown in the films. Especially the 'Marauder'-era is left out; when they were students at Hogwarts with Harry's dad.
I suspect the scene that started fandom, was in The Prisoner of Azkaban (book 3), in which "[Lupin] embraced Black like a brother". That seems innocent enough, but taken into consideration that it's written from young Harry's point of view, it begs exploration of the relationship. You'll be happy to know several fangirls have written essays to explain why we think these men are more than just good friends. Here is a long one that will convince you we are right: The Case For R/S by elwing_alcyone. WARNING: SPOILERS FOR FINAL BOOK! (We can explain J.K. Rowlings conclusion away too;)

Hornblower: Horatio/Archie

Ahw, just look at these guys. Horatio Hornblower and Archie Kennedy suffered the wrath of the evil captain together, when they first set foot aboard whatever ship they met on. And of course there was that time when Archie was captured and Horatio had to rescue him and bring him back from insanity, holding him in his arms to comfort him. Good stuff. Lovely.

RPS: Jared/Jensen (J2)

Do I really need to explain? Sigh. El Oo Vee Ee.

The who whatting the how with the huh?

I have knowledge! (A work in progress;)

  • Fanfiction = A piece of fiction utilizing characters and situations from a pre-existing work including (but not limited to) books, television programs, films, and comic strips. Written by fans of the original work. Often used to play out AU scenarios and/or various romantic pairings not found in the original work. Typically separated into het, slash, and general genres.
  • AU = alternate universe
  • Het = straight romance or erotica (pr0n!)
  • Slash = gay/lesbian romance or erotica (pr0n!)
  • pr0n! = porn (NC 17)
  • OTP = One True Pairing, favorite combination of two characters.
  • O3P/OT3 = favorite combination of three characters.
  • CW = the CW network, a corner in TV-land where lots of pretty boys and girls live.
  • RPS = Real Person Slash. Stories featuring famous people. It's a fantasy-universe.
  • Manip: a manipulation of an image, usually made into a more intimate situation than the original
  • J2 = Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, actors, currently playing the Winchester brothers in series SuperNatural.
  • Other pretty in the J2 universe = Tom Welling (young superman in Smallville), Michael Rosenbaum (villain in Smallville) Chad Michael Murray (from One Tree Hill)

FYI: I watched Buffy and Angel religiously, same goes for the original CSI. I don't care much for SuperNatural.
